LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Laser removal quickly replaced other methods in tattoo removal such as excision and dermabrasion. Dermabrasion actively sands away the top layer of the skin using friction and excision is simply cutting the tattoo out and sewing the incision back together.

The laser light is effective on professional and non-professional tattoos. Professional tattoos usually take 5-10 sessions and non-professional 4-6.  It uses an intense beam of light and high energy to break up the ink. The particles are eventually removed from the body by way of it’s natural cleansing. Almost all tattoos can be removed. Black ink and warmer colors respond well while inks with dyes such as white, green, yellow and orange respond differently.

Pain and scarring are minimal when topical anesthetic and Q-Switched ND-YAG lasers are used. Hyper/hypo pigmentation is experienced in some patients, but generally fades over time.
