These large centers are sometimes bound to hold pricing high due their contracted rates with insurance companies. As a responsible physician, he wants to provide clinical services that promote and foster a medical system that is sustainable and affordable. That is why he has announced the addition of four advanced laparoscopic surgeons to the staff at the Paragon Surgery Center in Mansfield. Surgical procedures are now being offered to all patients state-wide for a cash price that is often less than some deductible plans. Although this system is intended to be cash based, some patients will still be able to submit the charges for reimbursement through their out of network benefits.

Usually, when I am transplanting the beard, I will use advanced harvest techniques at 3000 RPM with a 19G punch using the FUE ARTAS robot and taking hair from back of the head. If I am taking hair from under the angle of the mandible I like to use a 1.0MM or 0.9MM sharp punch.
Most patients will need around 32 weeks for the beard to become fully developed from the transplant procedure. It usually takes 2 beard transplants to get a desired result however we occasionally will perform up to 4 transplants to achieve the amount of thickening that patients will want.
Average Cost ranges from about $5000. Average number of Hairs needed to transplant varies dramatically but it is very common to go over 4,000 total hairs over 2,200 to 2,500 grafts.

Recently, Restoration Robotics launched ARTAS Hair Studio. This state of the art product allows the patient and surgeon plan and produce a simulation of a possible outcome. Although this product has some limitations to the realistic look of the transplanted hair, it does allow for a formal interaction between the surgeon and the patient that spawns more thought into the over- all operative goal and leads to increased numbers of hairs being transplanted.

The latest advancement in robotic hair transplantation that has been successfully achieved and FDA cleared is recipient site creation for subsequent manual implantation of the harvested follicles.
ARTAS Site Making
The process begins first by creating a model, site making is preplaned on a tablet computer. The plan is then exported to the computer terminal on the robot.
Next, we create a hairline and can design a pattern or a direction of hair flow. The ARTAS Hair studio allows the physician to preoperatively plan for the distribution of the recipient sides in the most appropriate and artistic hairlines. Preoperative planning avoid mistakes of under filling important areas and over filling less important areas with grafts.
Once the plan is loaded into the robot the patient is positioned as such, a fiducial system is loosely affixed to the patient’s scalp. The patient is mildly sedated and anesthetized with local anesthetic injections.
Finally, the robot creates the preplanned recipient sites designed by the robotic hair transplant surgeon.
