I had abdominal liposuction a year ago w/Dr. Bishara. He told me I had a hernia which I didn’t know about, and that he could remove/fix it with a tummy tuck. I visited several plastic surgeons before doing my first procedure, the liposuction, and I will NEVER see any other surgeon. The fourth annual Arlington Juneteenth Celebration returns to Downtown Arlington on Saturday, June 21, 2025. This free event at the Levitt Pavilion, 100 W. The concert will open with a performance by Audacity, a dynamic DFW-based all-girl band popular for their high-energy live shows spanning “old and new school” R&B, hip-hop, pop, and jazz. Arlington native and singer-songwriter Patreece Dade-Ohakam, a former Arlington ISD teacher, will kick off the show with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem and Black National Anthem.

The Arlington Juneteenth Celebration is a collaboration between Service First Initiatives, the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Arlington Alumni Chapter, and Levitt Arlington. These organizations originally joined forces in 2022 to produce this free community event, which also features vendors and food trucks.

“This celebration is all about bringing the community together to honor an important moment in our nation’s history,” said Torey Page, president of the Arlington chapter of Phi Beta Sigma. “All are welcome! If you’ve never attended a Juneteenth celebration, you’re in for a memorable and meaningful experience—from grooving to the brass and soulful sounds of Big Sam’s to relaxing on the Levitt lawn with family and friends.”

The Juneteenth Celebration is part of Levitt’s free summer concert series, which also includes a June 20 performance by rising Texas country singer-songwriter Angel White (fresh from a spring appearance at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Coachella Valley); a tribute to Selena on June 27 with Tejano Queen Forever; and the return of Levitt favorite the Brad Thompson Band and free fireworks at the City's Light Up Arlington celebration on Thursday, July 3.

The Downtown Arlington Farmers Market opened in March 2025 as a collaboration between the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, the City of Arlington, and Four Seasons Markets. Held every Saturday from March through November, the market will offer a variety of fresh produce, local vendors, and unique artisan goods to the community.

Market Hours: The market hours are typically 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. But from June through the end of September, the market will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 pm.

Market Location: The market is located in the city parking lot at the corner of Front and Center streets, just west of the Rotary Dream Park in Downtown.

Parking and Admission: Parking and entry are free, making it easy for everyone to attend and enjoy this new weekend tradition. Free parking is available throughout Downtown. Some of the closest parking is along Front Street, on the first two floors of the 101 Center parking garage, in the lot west of City Hall, and the reverse-angle parking spaces on Mesquite, Center and Abram streets south of the train tracks. Handicap parking spaces are available on Center Street east of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

Arlington Water Utilities will host a public meeting about the City of Arlington’s Shadow Drive Sanitary Sewer Main Replacement Project from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, on the first floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S. Center St. Information will be available at the meeting about the project and its potential environmental impacts.

The sanitary sewer main replacement project is planned for the area near West Shadow Drive and Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard. To protect the City’s waterways, about 2,800 linear feet of the existing 21-inch sanitary sewer main along east bluff of the West Fork Trinity River will be abandoned. The project is necessary because significant erosion around the existing sanitary sewer main caused it to be in danger of collapsing.

Sanitary sewer flow will be redirected away from the river by constructing a new sanitary sewer lift station with two to three pumps and approximately 6,000 linear feet of 12-inch sanitary sewer force main and 450 linear feet of 21-inch gravity sanitary sewer main. This alignment will be installed mainly in city right-of-way with minimal impact to trees.

Arlington Water Utilities plans to fund the $10 million project with a low-interest loan from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), which manages the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. Arlington plans to save $5 million by financing the Shadow Drive project and one other upcoming sewer project through low-interest loans from the state.

Since the Shadow Drive project involves the construction of a critical facility in the 100-year floodplain, alternatives to construction in a floodplain, potential impacts on floodplains, and proposed mitigation will be addressed during the public meeting on May 15. City engineers and consultants working on the project will be available to answer questions and provide more information.

Guests may not bring or have outside food provided by a caterer or restaurant delivered into City pool facilities. This change is designed to improve the guest experience by reducing the amount of trash left in the pool area. Dietary restrictions, food allergies and baby formula are exceptions. Guests may bring in food from home. Concessions are also available for sale at the Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center and the Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center.

Guests who bring in coolers that measure 20 inches by 20 inches or larger will also be assessed a fee. The cooler fee is $5 at the Howard Moore, Woodland West and Allen Bolden pools and $10 at the Randol Mill and Bad Königshofen family Aquatic centers. All coolers, whether hard-sided or soft-sided, will be inspected at the pool entrance. As always, glass containers and alcohol are not permitted.
