Plastic Surgeon in Mesquite, TX

Some things in life are simply inevitable, like getting older. As we age, things begin to change in our lives. We learn to let things go and to smile more. We have more financial freedom to do things and see things that we've wanted to see and do for years. But on the flip side of the coin, our bodies begin to change, too. Breasts start to sag a little more than they did in years past. More fat starts to make itself known around your midsection, neck, arms, and stomach.

Wrinkles and fine lines start to become more pronounced. In the past, we were taught to just deal with the signs of aging. But in modern times, there are safe, innovative ways to recapture the incomparable feeling of youth. If you're getting more and more self-conscious about how you look, it could be time to work with a plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX, like Dr. Mark Bishara of Paragon Plastic Surgeon.

Body Contouring: Lifting Loose Skin After Substantial Weight Loss

Shape

The obesity epidemic in the United States and worldwide has prompted numerous programs aimed at reducing Body Mass Index (BMI) for individuals' well-being. However, substantial weight loss cannot disregard real-world physics. As a result of weight loss, bodily components such as skin and fat deposits undergo significant changes in tension and size, which may not adjust accordingly. Bariatric weight loss surgery has helped many people achieve their BMI goals and lead healthier lives, but it has also increased the need for body contouring following weight loss. If you made the choice to get healthy and lose weight but are left with unattractive and frustrating loose skin, it could be time to speak with a plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX.

The goal of body contouring is to remove excess skin for both cosmetic and functional reasons. Large hanging skin folds can be considered unappealing from an aesthetic standpoint, and frequent chafing between functional and excess skin can make daily activities uncomfortable, potentially leading to skin infections. Additionally, moisture trapped between loose skin folds can create an ideal environment for bacterial growth, posing hygiene issues for the patient.

While it's feasible to perform a full body lift in one session, most doctors prefer to divide body contouring surgeries into multiple sessions for the patient's safety and comfort. At Paragon Plastic Surgery, our body contouring procedures are split up into a few of the most common areas on which we operate, including:

Breast lifts reshape your breasts and reposition your areolas by removing excess skin below the breasts and moving the nipples higher. The skin above your breasts is also adjusted to create a more youthful contour. This surgery can also be combined with breast augmentation to fill any volume loss, and the areolas can be resized if needed.

 Aesthetic Treatments Mesquite, TX

The arm lift procedure aims to achieve a more youthful appearance by removing excess fat and skin from your underarms. This is common in women but can also occur in men after significant weight loss. The incision is made beneath your arm and may extend from the elbow to the armpit, depending on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. Most patients are satisfied with the results and consider the trade-off of "skin for scars" worthwhile, especially when the scars are effectively concealed by your plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX.

 Facial Rejuvenation Mesquite, TX

A lower body lift includes a thigh lift, and a buttock lift to remove excess skin. The thigh lift is like an arm lift, with incisions made based on the location of excess skin. The buttock lift doesn't involve implants, but fat from other areas can be used to enhance the shape. Overall, the skin cutting and repositioning performed by Dr. Bishara is safe and provides welcome results after bariatric surgery or extreme weight loss.

 Body Contouring Mesquite, TX

A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that involves tightening your abdominal walls and removing excess skin to create a flatter abdomen. The surgery is typically performed under either local or general anesthesia. It begins with an incision along the bikini line and the removal of the belly button. After the abdominal wall is tightened, the excess skin is pulled down, and a new belly button is created. This procedure is moderately invasive, and it usually takes about two to three weeks before patients can resume exercising.

Face Lifts and Implants: Reclaiming a More Youthful "You"

Shape

In today's day and age, aesthetic impressions matter more than at any other time in history. Whether we're meeting a new person or reconvening with an old friend, one of the first places we look is at their face. When a person has sunken cheeks, deep wrinkles, and drooping foreheads, we tend to think they're angry or disheveled. If you're worried about unattractive features on your face that affect your daily life, you're not alone. Millions of men and women around the U.S. aren't happy with features like thin lips and frown lines.

By working with a plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX, like Dr. Bishara at Paragon Plastic Surgeon, you can reclaim a more youthful you with the safe and effective procedures below.

Brow and Eyelid lifts can rejuvenate sagging or wrinkled foreheads, giving you a more relaxed and youthful appearance. By using either traditional or minimally invasive techniques, the muscles above the eyes are adjusted to smooth out lines and lift the eyebrows. This procedure is often combined with others to enhance the overall look of your eyes.

Full cheeks play a significant role in how we perceive a person's face, whether we realize it or not. Cheek implants can have a big impact on your self-confidence, especially if your cheeks have thinned due to aging, illness, or other reasons. The sizes and shapes of the implants we use are customized to fit your desired appearance, giving you a personalized experience and look.

Reshaping your chin with implants can help create a more balanced appearance with your other facial features. Chin enhancement is commonly suggested for individuals getting rhinoplasty to achieve better facial harmony, as the size of the chin can either accentuate or diminish the apparent size of the nose and vice versa.

A facelift can reverse the effects of aging, gravity, sun exposure, and stress by eliminating fat, tightening skin and muscles, and giving your face a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance. Many of our patients report looking 10 to 15 years younger after undergoing a facelift performed by a plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX from Paragon Plastic Surgery.

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can smooth and tighten the skin on your neck to provide a more toned and youthful appearance. This procedure offers a drastic improvement to the appearance of your neck, and subtle changes to your overall appearance.

Hair Restoration: An Innovative Solution for Baldness and Thinning Hair

Shape

Hair loss can be caused by side effects from medication, aging, genetics, or scalp injuries with scarring. It affects both men and women of all ages, leading to pattern baldness, patchy spots, or thinning hair. Many people find this change in their appearance distressing and are frustrated by the lack of effective treatments. Thankfully, there are several minimally invasive and affordable treatments available to promote hair growth or restore hair loss. These treatments can help patients regain confidence as they enjoy thick, full, and beautiful hair once again.

Dr. Mark Bishara is proud to offer a wide range of comprehensive hair restoration procedures, including the following:

 Aesthetic Treatments Mesquite, TX
Laser Hair Therapy

The Xtrallux Extreme RX Hair Regrowth Laser Cap utilizes a unique form of laser light proven to enhance circulation and trigger cellular metabolism in and around the scalp's hair follicles. Unlike the lasers employed for cosmetic skin procedures and tattoo removal, the Xtrallux doesn't cause any damage to the skin cells. Instead, it employs low-level, cool-to-the-touch lasers for hair restoration.

 Facial Rejuvenation Mesquite, TX
Non-Surgical Hair Restoration with PRP

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) Therapy involves extracting a small amount of your blood and separating the platelets and plasma. After being combined in a centrifuge, the mix is then injected just under your scalp in the areas where hair growth is desired. Researchers suggest that the hormones and growth factors in platelet-rich plasma play a crucial role in stimulating renewed hair growth and transforming thin hair into thicker, fuller strands.

 Body Contouring Mesquite, TX
Surgical Treatments for Hair Growth

Many men and women choose non-surgical hair restoration because it's minimally invasive. However, if you have severe hair loss or you have tried other procedures with no luck, it might be time to see a plastic surgeon in Mesquite, TX. Surgical hair restoration procedures are specifically designed to deliver effective results with minimal downtime and without causing damage to surrounding hair follicles. Dr. Bishara from Paragon Plastic Surgeon possesses extensive experience in performing these advanced procedures and will assist you in determining the most suitable approach for achieving the best possible results.

What our patients say

Depending on your needs, surgical hair growth options from Paragon may be the best course of action. Common surgical hair restoration procedures include the following:

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive hair restoration procedure that moves the patient's own hair - graft by graft - to maximize the likelihood of regrowth after it has been transplanted in the balding area.

Eyebrow restoration involves inserting single-hair micro-grafts into the eyebrows using a needle at a specific angle, creating a natural appearance customized to fit the patient's goals.

Dr. Bishara's FUT method of hair restoration surgery involves transplanting natural, individual follicular units for the most natural results. The procedure involves trimming the hair short, numbing the scalp, removing follicles, and placing them in the recipient area. Sutures are placed in the donor area, which are usually hidden by the patient's hair. Patients can resume normal hair care after a week, and hair growth typically begins about three months after the procedure.

Temporal Peaks Restoration restores a natural and youthful hairline by recreating the temporal peaks, the areas at the front of the head that are common sites of hair loss. This procedure helps frame the face and define a person's appearance by transplanting hair to recreate a natural hairline.

The district said in a statement that none of the injuries are life-threatening.

MESQUITE, Texas — Several students at a Mesquite ISD elementary school were injured after a gust of wind lifted a bounce house they were in, school officials said.

In a statement, the district said the students were injured during a play day event at Lawrence Elementary. The injured students were taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

WFAA spoke with one 4th grade student who was injured. That student's family requested to remain anonymous. “I saw one of my classmates laying on the ground unconscious," said the student. “I saw a lot of my classmates crying."

The student said a fourth-grade class was playing on the ball bounce house when a gust of wind blew past.

“It was tipping over a little bit, and then it just like flew into the air," said the student. “I knew I was going to get hurt in some kind of way, but I didn't know how. And it was really scary.”

Fifth-grader Isrea Rodriguez witnessed the bounce house flip. He said he ran to alert teachers and began helping students.

"A few of my friends ran over there too to help me get the kids from under. Then, we started checking up on the kids on the ground," said Rodriguez.

His mother, Vicenta Rodriguez, called him a hero.

“The joy of his teacher telling me, you know, like he's a hero, he's very brave for that, it melts my heart," said Vicenta.

Mesquite ISD said in a statement, "We have been in direct contact with these families and are grateful to report none are life-threatening."

Witnesses said some students on the bounce house suffered broken bones. No other students were harmed and they continued the school day indoors, the district said, with the rest of the play day's activities canceled.

Counselors have been made available for any students or staff who may need support after the incident, the district added.

"The district has launched an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the incident, and we are committed to reviewing every aspect of the event to ensure it never happens again," the district concluded in its statement. "Nothing matters more than protecting the children entrusted to our care."

Students said the bounce house was on concrete and was secured by sandbags.

"There was, I think, one big one, and then the rest were small," said one student.

"The bags weren't all the way on the thing. They were at the edge. That's kind of a safety hazard because you have to strap it down with the metal things that go in the grass. Plus, it was on the concrete," said Rodriguez.

WFAA reached out to the bounce house company but has not heard back.

“If you don’t have the proper equipment to weigh those things down, find somewhere else to put them," said Vicenta.

Mesquite ISD added that it would be suspending the use of all outdoor bounce houses at events for the remainder of this school year.

"This decision reflects our deep commitment to student safety and allows time for a thorough review of what occurred this morning," the district said in a statement. "Once that review is complete, we will evaluate the future use of inflatable structures at MISD events."

WFAA reached out to Bounce 'N' More, the company that rents out the bounce houses and a spokesperson provided the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred earlier today at Lawrence Elementary School during a field day event. Our thoughts are with everyone affected—students, families, teachers, staff, and the broader community. As a family business, this has been truly upsetting for all of us at Bounce N More. In nearly 20 years of operation, we have been proud to safely support over 3,000 events each year across North Texas, and we have never witnessed an incident of this nature. The total health and wellbeing of our customers has always been our greatest priority, and we have worked hard to uphold the highest of safety standards in every aspect of our work. While today’s event was self-staffed, an option available to all customers, we can confirm that all safety checks and procedures were followed during setup, including full function of all blowers, air tubes, and zippers, and anchored with sandbags as required for use on concrete. All safety measures were reviewed on-site and signed as required prior to the event, outlining evacuation procedures in the event of wind speeds exceeding 15 mph or rain, and with the unit’s safety rules and maximum occupancy of four properly displayed. We are conducting a thorough internal review as we await more information, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to safely serving the communities we love."

A new entertainment venue is moving into the long-vacant former Sears space in Town East Mall in Mesquite.

The Mesquite City Council voted unanimously last week to bring Main Event to the site that’s been empty since North Texas’ last Sears store closed in 2021. The national entertainment chain has locations around the country, and nearly two dozen in Texas.

“While other malls may be withering and kind of going away, this mall is adding a really important catalyst, another anchor,” Council Member Jeff Casper said at the May 5 meeting.

He said it would also attract consumers outside of Mesquite.

Main Event would occupy the first floor of the former Sears space, which is 58,000 square feet. It will include things like bowling, laser tag, arcade games, escape rooms, billiards, and meeting and party rooms.

The city expects the new venue will create 200 new jobs, which is something local business owner Teresa Sotelo said would help boost the economy.

“I think a lot of people and youth would go,” she told KERA in Spanish. “And people would also like it because it would help bring jobs. I think it’s a very good option that’s worth the effort.”

Council Member Kenny Green said residents have for years been asking for more entertainment options in their city.

“You know, we used to have a putt-putt. We used to things like that that are no longer here,” Green said. “People are craving something to go do with the family.”

Adding Main Event is part of a larger redevelopment plan, according to Steve Meyer, of SRB Mesquite LLC, the owner of the Sears property at Town East.

The redevelopment includes more green space, reconfiguration of the parking lot, pad site location on street frontages and more restaurants.

“I think with the mix of Main Event and the other restaurants that we're talking to, it'll re-energize that very important intersection in your town,” Meyer told council members.

Daniel Rebensdorf, a representative for Main Event, said construction could take eight to nine months, but there’s not a definite date of when the venue would open.

Earlier this year the council voted to offer a tax incentive to keep the Macy’s anchor store at Town East for at least five more years.

Army ‘considering terminating’ General Dynamics’ oversight of new 155mm production lines

WASHINGTON — The US Army is considering scrapping General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) management of three new 155mm artillery round production lines in Mesquite, Texas, according to a “show cause” letter obtained by Breaking Defense.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and the heavy use of artillery, the Army rushed to bolster 155mm production and produce 100,000 shells per month. As part of that broader push, it opened a new government-owned facility in Texas, tapping GD-OTS to operate it and stand up three Universal Artillery Projectile Lines (UAPL) to produce the metal parts for artillery projectiles, including the shell casings.

That work, though, has not gone smoothly, and the service is now “considering terminating” the GD deals for all three UPLA lines, according to a June 13 letter from Army Contracting Command (ACC) to the company.

“GD-OTS has failed to complete the projects on time or make meaningful progress towards meeting the required completion dates of design and installation of the three (3) UAPLs,” the Army wrote in the letter. A show cause letter is a formal document requiring an individual or company to detail why specific actions or inactions should not result in consequences — in this case, termination of the three production line deals.

As of mid-June, the service noted that GD-OTS had missed period of performance completion dates for both UAPL lines 1 and 2 — Nov. 22, 2024, and April 16 of this year, respectively — while noting that while the line 3 deadline doesn’t occur until March 3, 2026, that appears likely to slip too.

“Because GD-OTS has failed to meet significant milestones for UAPL 1, leading to six (6) missed First Article Test dates spanning April 2024 through June 2025, resultant schedule impacts have continued to extend [to] UAPL 2 and UAPL schedules,” the Army explained. “Specifically, for Line 3, since January 2025 alone GD-OTS’ estimate for equipment installation slipped three (3) months, thus extending total installation timeframe and subsequent line prove-out activities into 2027.”

Additionally, the service said that even after it was determined that Line 1 equipment did not meet “technical requirements of the contract,” the company continued shipping Line 3 equipment. As a result, there is a “significant risk” that similar Line 3 equipment will also not be up to snuff. Compounding the issue, on May 29 GD-OTS notified Army officials that it had halted work on UAPL 3 “on its own accord,” a decision taken without direction or concurrence from the service.

All taken together, the Army wrote, GD-OTS “is failing to make progress” on the third line.

“Because GD-OTS has failed to perform the UAPL Task Orders… within the timeframe required by the contractual terms, the USG is considering terminating” the deals but a final decision has not been made, the Army added. The letter does not go into detail about what other companies could be tapped to replace GD-OTS.

The letter gave GD-OTS 10 days to respond in writing and affirm if it is capable of completing the design and installation for the first two lines and produce either 10,000 M795 or M1128 projectile metal parts per month, and 10,000 M795 parts per month for that third line.

While an ACC official declined to discuss specifics of that show cause letter, they told Breaking Defense today that GD-OTS’s deadline has now been extended to July 10.

“We won’t get into specifics in the discussion with GD-OTS, but we have communicated to them that they have received an approved extension until 10 July to provide information on how they plan to fulfill their obligations on this contract,” the service official wrote in a brief statement. “ACC supports Army readiness and modernization by using best practices and expert-level oversight to provide warfighters with premier contracting support.”

A GD-OTS spokesperson confirmed that the show cause letter was referring to work at the Mesquite, TX facility but deferred to the Army for any other comments about the evolving situation.
