Plastic Surgeon in Irving, TX

Some things in life are simply inevitable, like getting older. As we age, things begin to change in our lives. We learn to let things go and to smile more. We have more financial freedom to do things and see things that we've wanted to see and do for years. But on the flip side of the coin, our bodies begin to change, too. Breasts start to sag a little more than they did in years past. More fat starts to make itself known around your midsection, neck, arms, and stomach.

Wrinkles and fine lines start to become more pronounced. In the past, we were taught to just deal with the signs of aging. But in modern times, there are safe, innovative ways to recapture the incomparable feeling of youth. If you're getting more and more self-conscious about how you look, it could be time to work with a plastic surgeon in Irving, TX, like Dr. Mark Bishara of Paragon Plastic Surgeon.

Body Contouring: Lifting Loose Skin After Substantial Weight Loss

Shape

The obesity epidemic in the United States and worldwide has prompted numerous programs aimed at reducing Body Mass Index (BMI) for individuals' well-being. However, substantial weight loss cannot disregard real-world physics. As a result of weight loss, bodily components such as skin and fat deposits undergo significant changes in tension and size, which may not adjust accordingly. Bariatric weight loss surgery has helped many people achieve their BMI goals and lead healthier lives, but it has also increased the need for body contouring following weight loss. If you made the choice to get healthy and lose weight but are left with unattractive and frustrating loose skin, it could be time to speak with a plastic surgeon in Irving, TX.

The goal of body contouring is to remove excess skin for both cosmetic and functional reasons. Large hanging skin folds can be considered unappealing from an aesthetic standpoint, and frequent chafing between functional and excess skin can make daily activities uncomfortable, potentially leading to skin infections. Additionally, moisture trapped between loose skin folds can create an ideal environment for bacterial growth, posing hygiene issues for the patient.

While it's feasible to perform a full body lift in one session, most doctors prefer to divide body contouring surgeries into multiple sessions for the patient's safety and comfort. At Paragon Plastic Surgery, our body contouring procedures are split up into a few of the most common areas on which we operate, including:

Breast lifts reshape your breasts and reposition your areolas by removing excess skin below the breasts and moving the nipples higher. The skin above your breasts is also adjusted to create a more youthful contour. This surgery can also be combined with breast augmentation to fill any volume loss, and the areolas can be resized if needed.

 Aesthetic Treatments Irving, TX

The arm lift procedure aims to achieve a more youthful appearance by removing excess fat and skin from your underarms. This is common in women but can also occur in men after significant weight loss. The incision is made beneath your arm and may extend from the elbow to the armpit, depending on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. Most patients are satisfied with the results and consider the trade-off of "skin for scars" worthwhile, especially when the scars are effectively concealed by your plastic surgeon in city, state.

 Facial Rejuvenation Irving, TX

A lower body lift includes a thigh lift, and a buttock lift to remove excess skin. The thigh lift is like an arm lift, with incisions made based on the location of excess skin. The buttock lift doesn't involve implants, but fat from other areas can be used to enhance the shape. Overall, the skin cutting and repositioning performed by Dr. Bishara is safe and provides welcome results after bariatric surgery or extreme weight loss.

 Body Contouring Irving, TX

A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that involves tightening your abdominal walls and removing excess skin to create a flatter abdomen. The surgery is typically performed under either local or general anesthesia. It begins with an incision along the bikini line and the removal of the belly button. After the abdominal wall is tightened, the excess skin is pulled down, and a new belly button is created. This procedure is moderately invasive, and it usually takes about two to three weeks before patients can resume exercising.

Shape

In today's day and age, aesthetic impressions matter more than at any other time in history. Whether we're meeting a new person or reconvening with an old friend, one of the first places we look is at their face. When a person has sunken cheeks, deep wrinkles, and drooping foreheads, we tend to think they're angry or disheveled. If you're worried about unattractive features on your face that affect your daily life, you're not alone. Millions of men and women around the U.S. aren't happy with features like thin lips and frown lines.

By working with a plastic surgeon in city, state, like Dr. Bishara at Paragon Plastic Surgeon, you can reclaim a more youthful you with the safe and effective procedures below.

By using either traditional or minimally invasive techniques, the muscles above the eyes are adjusted to smooth out lines and lift the eyebrows. This procedure is often combined with others to enhance the overall look of your eyes.

Full cheeks play a significant role in how we perceive a person's face, whether we realize it or not. Cheek implants can have a big impact on your self-confidence, especially if your cheeks have thinned due to aging, illness, or other reasons. The sizes and shapes of the implants we use are customized to fit your desired appearance, giving you a personalized experience and look.

Reshaping your chin with implants can help create a more balanced appearance with your other facial features. Chin enhancement is commonly suggested for individuals getting rhinoplasty to achieve better facial harmony, as the size of the chin can either accentuate or diminish the apparent size of the nose and vice versa.

A facelift can reverse the effects of aging, gravity, sun exposure, and stress by eliminating fat, tightening skin and muscles, and giving your face a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance. Many of our patients report looking 10 to 15 years younger after undergoing a facelift performed by a plastic surgeon in city, state from Paragon Plastic Surgery.

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can smooth and tighten the skin on your neck to provide a more toned and youthful appearance. This procedure offers a drastic improvement to the appearance of your neck, and subtle changes to your overall appearance.

Hair Restoration: An Innovative Solution for Baldness and Thinning Hair

Shape

Hair loss can be caused by side effects from medication, aging, genetics, or scalp injuries with scarring. It affects both men and women of all ages, leading to pattern baldness, patchy spots, or thinning hair. Many people find this change in their appearance distressing and are frustrated by the lack of effective treatments. Thankfully, there are several minimally invasive and affordable treatments available to promote hair growth or restore hair loss. These treatments can help patients regain confidence as they enjoy thick, full, and beautiful hair once again.

Dr. Mark Bishara is proud to offer a wide range of comprehensive hair restoration procedures, including the following:

 Aesthetic Treatments Irving, TX
Laser Hair Therapy

The Xtrallux Extreme RX Hair Regrowth Laser Cap utilizes a unique form of laser light proven to enhance circulation and trigger cellular metabolism in and around the scalp's hair follicles. Unlike the lasers employed for cosmetic skin procedures and tattoo removal, the Xtrallux doesn't cause any damage to the skin cells. Instead, it employs low-level, cool-to-the-touch lasers for hair restoration.

 Facial Rejuvenation Irving, TX
Non-Surgical Hair Restoration with PRP

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) Therapy involves extracting a small amount of your blood and separating the platelets and plasma. After being combined in a centrifuge, the mix is then injected just under your scalp in the areas where hair growth is desired. Researchers suggest that the hormones and growth factors in platelet-rich plasma play a crucial role in stimulating renewed hair growth and transforming thin hair into thicker, fuller strands.

 Body Contouring Irving, TX
Surgical Treatments for Hair Growth

Many men and women choose non-surgical hair restoration because it's minimally invasive. However, if you have severe hair loss or you have tried other procedures with no luck, it might be time to see a plastic surgeon in Irving, TX. Surgical hair restoration procedures are specifically designed to deliver effective results with minimal downtime and without causing damage to surrounding hair follicles. Dr. Bishara from Paragon Plastic Surgeon possesses extensive experience in performing these advanced procedures and will assist you in determining the most suitable approach for achieving the best possible results.

What our patients say

Depending on your needs, surgical hair growth options from Paragon may be the best course of action. Common surgical hair restoration procedures include the following:

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive hair restoration procedure that moves the patient's own hair - graft by graft - to maximize the likelihood of regrowth after it has been transplanted in the balding area.

Eyebrow restoration involves inserting single-hair micro-grafts into the eyebrows using a needle at a specific angle, creating a natural appearance customized to fit the patient's goals.

Dr. Bishara's FUT method of hair restoration surgery involves transplanting natural, individual follicular units for the most natural results. The procedure involves trimming the hair short, numbing the scalp, removing follicles, and placing them in the recipient area. Sutures are placed in the donor area, which are usually hidden by the patient's hair. Patients can resume normal hair care after a week, and hair growth typically begins about three months after the procedure.

Temporal Peaks Restoration restores a natural and youthful hairline by recreating the temporal peaks, the areas at the front of the head that are common sites of hair loss. This procedure helps frame the face and define a person's appearance by transplanting hair to recreate a natural hairline.

Here's why plans for a casino resort from the Mavs' owners is now on hold

The request to drop the casino part of Sands Corp's plan came hours before the full city council was set to consider a zoning change to move the development forward.

IRVING, Texas — Just hours before Irving leaders were set to consider the Dallas Mavericks' owners' plans to build a casino resort near the former Texas Stadium site, an official from Las Vegas Sands Corporation requested that the gambling part of the plan be withdrawn.

Mark Boekenheide, senior vice president of global real estate development for Las Vegas Sands Corp., which is owned by the same family that owns the Dallas Mavericks, requested the gaming component of the development be removed from the plans during a city council workshop Thursday afternoon after receiving pushback from some in the community.

The city council met late into the night and ultimately passed the amended plan. But where the project goes from here remains unclear.

Sands' decision Thursday means that any construction on a proposed destination resort that would include gaming -- which is not yet legal in Texas -- will not proceed. A representative told city leaders that the casino is needed to help fund the resort's operations.

“At this time, given the current status of gaming expansion legislation in the state and certainly some of the concerns that are being spoken in our several meetings here, Sands has asked the Irving City Council to remove the destination resort and gaming component from the proposal initially sent to you and instead consider approval of the balance of the uses in the rezoning entitlement,” Boekenheide said.

Earlier this week, the Irving planning and zoning commission approved two proposals – one that would change a 1,001-acre development area around state highways 114, 183 and Loop 12 into high-intensity mixed-used development and another that would switch two specific tracts within that development on the northeast side of State Highway 114 across from the old Texas Stadium from transit-oriented to mixed-use, in a 5-4 vote earlier this week.

That vote was an early step toward eventually allowing Las Vegas Sands Corp. to build a resort and casino on the site should Texas legalize gambling. Speculation that the venue could also include a sports arena led to rumors the Mavs could move to Irving.

The plans sparked protest and pushback from some in the Irving community.

“I think it’s safe to say the city of Irving’s long viewed this parcel as a valuable development asset and has explored ways to maximize the development with us as well as with the previous owner and of course, with us, including the option to create a multibillion-dollar gaming resort should the gaming laws in Texas change. As part of what is certainly going to be an open and ongoing process, our company appreciates the opportunity to share a vision of what that destination resort could look like in Irving or someplace else in the metroplex,” Boekenheide added during the workshop. “We value input from all of the stakeholders and the community.”

Las Vegas Sands Corp. provided the following statement to WFAA:

“The City of Irving has long viewed this parcel of land as a valuable development asset and has explored ways to maximize that development, including the option to create a multi-billion-dollar destination resort should the gaming laws in Texas change. As part of what is certainly an open and ongoing process, our company appreciates the opportunity to share a vision of what a destination resort could look like in Irving or elsewhere in the Metroplex. We value input from all stakeholders, and we were pleased to receive approval from the Irving planning and zoning commission to move forward with our plans. At this time, given the current status of gaming expansion legislation in the state, Sands has asked the Irving City Council to remove the destination resort and gaming component of the proposal and instead consider approval of the balance of uses and the rezoning entitlement.”

Public comment regarding the newly proposed zoning request garnered 176 speakers Thursday night, per the city secretary.

Some residents pointed out that Sands' decision Thursday only signals that the company is willing to do another bout with the council if gaming is legalized down the road.

That could very well be the case. If the resort is powered by the profits of the casino like Boekenheide mentioned, there would be no sense in building one yet if Texans can't gamble.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. has revised its proposal for a major development in Irving amid public opposition and the current illegality of gambling in Texas. The company asked Irving City Council members to strip the casino gambling portion from the proposed zoning amendment.

The original plan included a "destination resort" featuring casino gaming, contingent upon the legalization of gambling in Texas. However, during a public workshop on Thursday, Sands' executive Mark Boekenheide addressed the Irving City Council, requesting the removal of the casino element from the zoning proposal.

The revised proposal focuses on developing a high-density, mixed-use area encompassing retail, residential spaces, a hotel, and an arena. Now, if approved, permitted land will not include casino gaming at a destination resort, or a nightclub with the destination resort.

The development is planned for a 1,001-acre site near Highway 114, which includes the former Texas Stadium location.

This decision follows a contentious Planning and Zoning Commission meeting earlier in the week, where residents expressed concerns about the potential social impacts of introducing a casino to the area.

Again on Thursday night, there was standing room only, with several people finding out after signing up to speak that the proposal had been amended.

Just hours before a key vote, Las Vegas Sands asked Irving city leaders to remove the casino portion of its proposed resort plan. The developer—also the new owner of the Dallas Mavericks—made the change after public pushback. NBC 5’s Candace Sweat reports from City Hall.

"I wasn’t opposed to a development. We need economic development in the city. We need a wider variety of activities for our residents. But the issue that I had, and I think a lot of residents shared, was the issue of gaming in that zoning application," said Irving resident, Fuad Dadabhoy.

The commission narrowly approved the rezoning proposal in a 5-4 vote, advancing it to the City Council for consideration.

Several speakers said they’re now excited about the potential, but still expressed hesitancy about Sands Corp. Some said they want gaming casinos prohibited not just as it relates to the destination resort, but to explicitly name gambling as prohibited use.

"If they’re honest people they’re not going to do anything if they’re not doing gaming. So, if they do something then you gotta question their honesty," said Irving resident, Charles Zipper.

The City Council is scheduled to vote on the revised zoning amendment. If approved, Las Vegas Sands Corp., which recently acquired a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks, could proceed with the development under the new parameters, excluding casino gaming.

IRVING, Texas — The Irving Zoning Commission early Tuesday morning narrowly approved a zoning change that sets the stage for the owners of the Dallas Mavericks to build a casino resort and arena near the former Texas Stadium site.

The commission around 2:30 a.m. voted 5-4 to approve two proposals, including one that would change a 1,001-acre development area around state highways 114, 183 and Loop 12 into high-intensity mixed-used development. The second proposal would switch two specific tracts within that development -- on the northeast side of State Highway 114, across from the old Texas Stadium -- from transit-oriented mixed-use community to high-intensity mixed-use.

The zoning commission's vote advances the issue to the Irving City Council, which will take up the issue at an upcoming meeting Thursday, March 20.

The zoning change approved early Tuesday was an initial step that could allow the Las Vegas Sands Corporation -- the owners of which also own the Mavericks -- to build a resort and casino on the property.

A casino is an essential element of the Sands Corporation's plan, the company previously told city council. However, Texas has not yet allowed casino resorts to be developed in the state, and it's not clear if or when the law might be changed.

Still, if that eventually happens, the zoning changes approved by the Irving city council would lay the groundwork for the Sands Corporation to build a casino in North Texas adjacent to a 15,000-seat arena and resort. The arena plans have led to speculation that the Mavericks might leave Dallas for the Irving site, about eight miles up the highway from the American Airlines Center.

Philip Sanders, assistant city manager for the city of Irving, said in a council meeting last month that the Adelsons, who own both the Las Vegas Sands and the Mavericks, identified the possibility of a "destination resort concept" on the land, which includes the former home of the Dallas Cowboys.

"It maximizes the opportunity for a transformational development, which is really what I think the city envisioned on that property," Sanders told council members.

A plan for the property presented to Irving City Council in February included a minimum of 1,750 guest rooms, as well as either an arena with a minimum of 15,000 seats or an indoor theater with a minimum of 4,000 seats.

The commission meeting Monday night went on for several hours into early Tuesday morning. Commission members heard from residents who support and oppose the project.

“We have a vision in Irving for a premier destination in that spot ever since Texas Stadium was demolished,” said Mark Cronenwett, Irving City Councilman. "It will drive visitors to our city. Our tax base will increase immensely. This will be a tremendous opportunity for the city of Irving if we can do it, and if it doesn't actually cause Irving to suffer in a way that residents will be really hurt by."

Gregory Pimental, a longtime Irving resident, was among the voices opposing the project.

“Bringing casinos and predatory gambling into our community makes Irving just a lot less of a wholesome place, and just makes it harder to like, imagine raising a family here," he said.

Andy Abboud, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation senior vice president of government relations, took to the podium at the meeting and faced boos. Still, Abboud told WFAA that the company understands residents’ concerns and have faced pushback in the past on other projects.

Zoning Commission members Alicia Reyes, Debbi Haacke, Gerald Sangunio, Ricky Lightfoot and Terry Prichard voted to approve both zoning changes. April Myrick, Daniel Denny, Fahad Ahmed and Joshua Skinner voted against both changes.

A rezoning proposal tied to the new owners of the Dallas Mavericks, Las Vegas Sands Corp., drew a passionate and divided crowd to Irving City Hall Monday night. Residents packed the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, with many forced to stand, as they voiced their concerns and support for the project, which could eventually lay the groundwork for casino gaming in Texas.

The proposal seeks to rezone approximately 1,000 acres of land near Highway 114, including the site of the former Texas Stadium, for a large-scale mixed-use development. Las Vegas Sands executives outlined their vision, which includes retail, residential space, a resort, and the potential for a casino—should state lawmakers ever legalize gambling in Texas.

A community divided

Most residents at the meeting opposed the project, citing concerns about gambling, traffic congestion, and potential negative social impacts.

“We don’t need a casino in our community,” one resident said during public comment. “This is not the future we want for Irving.”

On the other side of the debate, some attendees highlighted the economic benefits the development could bring, including job creation and increased revenue for the city and school district.

“We believe that it would put somewhere about $25 million a year directly into the city of Irving, [and] $40 million into the school district,” a Las Vegas Sands representative stated.

Uncertainty over casino gaming

One of the key concerns raised by the commission was the uncertainty surrounding casino legalization in Texas.

“Would it be, if it doesn’t look like it’s ever gonna pass here in Texas, you’re just gonna sell the property and go someplace else?” one commission member asked.

“That’s a tough question to answer,” a Sands executive responded. “Because I don’t know. If it doesn’t happen this year, we’re probably interested to see what happens two years from now.”

The developers clarified that, while they are seeking rezoning approval now, they plan to move forward with the retail, residential, and resort aspects of the project while waiting for legislative decisions on casino gaming.

Arena plans confirmed

Another major point of discussion was whether a new arena would be part of the proposed development. The answer from Las Vegas Sands was clear: If a resort is built, an arena will be included, as is standard with the company’s properties.

With strong opinions on both sides, the planning and zoning meeting stretched late into the night as residents continued to voice their concerns. The commission’s decision on rezoning will help shape the future of Irving’s development—and potentially, casino gaming in Texas.

Rezoning approved

The meeting continued early into Tuesday morning and ended at about 2:30 a.m. The motion passed 5 to 4.

A planning meeting about the future of Irving and a potential resort casino stretched into the early hours of Tuesday morning. NBC 5's Larry Collins has the details.
