The ARTAS system approved by FDA on April 14, 2011 only completes one part of the Follicular Unit Extraction Hair Transplant at this time. This is the initial phase where grafts are selected, cut and removed from the tissue. The harvesting and removal of grafts, graft site creation, hair line design and graft placing is still done by the surgical team. In the future, ARTAS system will be capable of performing some of these tasks.
